Vacancy: Quantitative analyst/econometrician - 6 months contract

The Centre for Progressive Capitalism is a new cross-party think tank dedicated to influencing policy makers to create a more democratic and inclusive economy. Our key policy areas are focused on improving access to equity capital, technical skills, and housing for firms and workers. In addition, the Centre has two macro workstreams which concentrate on corporate governance and monetary policy.

The Centre requires a quantitative analyst / econometrician to work on a new project leveraging HMRC data to assess the contribution to the UK economy of a number of tax incentives which encourage greater levels of equity investment. Specifically, the project will look at two schemes including the enterprise investment scheme (EIS) and venture capital trusts (VCT).


Key responsibilities

  • Prepare data for analysis including assessment on data quality
  • Determine unbiased benchmark and contrast with dummy variable approach
  • Set up model so the data can be aggregated to provide broader insights for public policy purpose.
  • Draw up research findings in report



Skills and experience

• Minimum education to at least Masters level in a quantitative subject with a particular focus on econometrics and time series analysis
• Ability to synthesise and analyse quantitative information
• General understanding of fiscal policy, structure of the economy and company level data


Salary and contract

Competitive and flexible (part-time or full time) contract for an initial 6 months period and the opportunity to join our small friendly team based in Westminster.
