Labour's lost liberalism

Policy Network's new publication The next British centre-left, published earlier this week, has encouraged a debate within the Labour party and amongst political commentators about the party's long-term political strategy.

The Guardian led with an article by chief political correspondent, Nicholas Watt, calling the paper a "powerful critique of the party". The publication's authors, Patrick Diamond and Michael Kenny, also contributed an editorial on Labour's lost liberalism in Comment is Free that argues "Labour needs to appeal to a much wider support base, including liberally inclined voters, if it is to become a serious contender for power".
