    Chatham House hosted this conference "Europe, the next fifty years" to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Treaty Of Rome on 22 March in London. Policy Network's latest pamphlet, written by Peter Mandelson titled "The European Union in the Global Age" was launched at this event.
  • Globalisation and the future of the welfare state: towards a new socio-economic model

    In co-operation with members of the Chilean government and the Instituto Igualdad, Policy Network , supported by the Alfred Herrhausen Society, organised a high-level debate on ‘Globalisation and the Future of the Welfare State: Towards a New Socio-Economic Model.’ This event in Santiago, was the first in the International Policy Commission Conference Series, bringing together an unrivalled and experienced group of senior politicians, leading intellectuals, and up-and-coming thinkers from across the social democratic and progressive liberal spectrum.

    On 14 March, Brussels-based think-tank, The Centre, held a panel debate on the question "Can the EU deliver social justice and be representative of all its citizens?".

  • The social reality of Europe

    Roger Liddle, policy adviser to the President of the European Commission delivered a presentation about the Bureau of European Policy Advisers’ (BEPA) paper, which he has authored, “The Social Reality of Europe”, at an informal Policy Network roundtable discussion.
  • Immigration, social cohesion and right-wing populism seminar

    Following a previous successful seminar last October, where 25 international and UK experts analysed and discussed the changing nature and scope of immigration into Western societies, the second Policy Network/ Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation seminar was held on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd February 2007.
  • Making EU Enlargement Work: the accession of Romania and Bulgaria

    This conference, co-hosted by Policy Network and the Fabian Society, will assess the opportunities and challenges of EU enlargement.
