This event will be a discussion of the recent book by Eunice Goes, The Labour Party Under Ed Miliband: Trying But Failing to Renew Social Democracy.

The book examines how far Labour was able to renew social democracy under Miliband's leadership in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis and the 2010 election defeat. Goes adopts a comparative perspective which investigates the challenges confronting the British Labour party by reference to the experience of centre left parties across Europe.
