The Risk of Brexit

This is a critical time for the relationship between Britain and Europe, as politicians debate the crisis facing the European Union and Britain’s role within it. This event will mark the launch of the substantially revised edition of The Risk of Brexit, written by Policy Network’s co-chair Roger Liddle. This new edition charts how recent political developments have changed the debate surrounding Britain’s membership of the EU.

Following the 2015 general election and with the promise of an imminent referendum on Brexit, the pamphlet considers:

•    How has David Cameron’s renegotiation agenda shifted?
•    How are EU partners responding to threats of departure from Britain?
•    What was the impact of the 2015 general election?
•    What are the politics of a referendum on membership?
•     How can a pro-European case be made in Britain?

Speakers at the event will include:

•     Roger Liddle, co-chair, Policy Network and author of The Risk of Brexit
•     Stephen Booth, co-director, Open Europe
•     Emma Reynolds, Labour MP and former shadow Europe minister
•     Philip Stephens, associate editor, Financial Times

Before the event, we interviewed Emma Reynolds on the risk of Brexit, the challenges facing the In campaign and the role of Labour in the upcoming referendum:
