As the European Union reaches a crossroads this autumn, Policy Network, in partnership with Friends of Europe, hosted a major international conference in Brussels on 4 November to launch and discuss the policy and political recommendations of its flagship research programme, "An EU “fit for purpose” in the global age."

Sensing a fresh and spirited willingness to open a new era for global Europe, José Manuel Barroso launched and addressed the reports conclusions, delivering a strong statement of intent on the range of challenges identified in the report in his keynote address to senior MEP’s, EU officials, advisers and experts.

A summary of president Barroso's remarks can be found here.
