Foresight USA

  • Date(s)
    18 June 2009
  • Location
    Washington D.C.

The Foresight project will hold its second major regional symposium in Washington D.C. on the 18-19 June 2009. Organised by the Alfred Herrhausen Society, the International Forum of Deutsche Bank in partnership with Policy Network and The Brookings Institution, it will provide a unique opportunity to advance the task of forging a new global consensus on the shape of the emerging world order and the role of the US within it.

The event will bring together policymakers and experts from the US, Europe, India, China, Russia, Latin America to compare and contrast their perspectives of the key global challenges facing the US and the rest of the world. Participants from all over the world will be able to learn about the future visions of the new US presidency. The American leadership will, in turn, have the opportunity to listen to and engage with the various different international expectations of the US.

Foresight began its series of six high-level roundtable symposiums in Russia on 19-20 June 2008, this was followed by an expert roundtable in London at which Joseph Nye gave the keynote address. After Foresight USA, further events are planned in Europe (Berlin), Brazil, India, China and Japan.  The aim of these events is to identify areas where common positions between the Foresight countries/regions can be developed and thus progress made towards forging common futures. By bringing together participants from different parts of the world, these events will help build and sustain a Foresight network. Please see the Foresight website for more details about the project.
