Policy Network hosted a roundtable discussion on the role of the EU in the global age on 2 May 2008. The lunch time seminar, organised in partnership with the European Institute of the London School of Economics, was introduced by Zaki Laïdi, senior research fellow at the Centre d’Etudes Europeennes of Science Po Paris.

Zaki presented his latest publication “The Normative Empire: The Unintended Consequences of European Power”, a GARNET Policy Brief under its network of excellence on "Global Governance, Regionalisation and Regulation; The role of the EU”. A response was given by Roger Liddle, vice-chair of Policy Network and former European adviser to Tony Blair.
