Progressive governance seminar: poverty and development

  • Date(s)
    5 March 2008

As part of its preparations for the progressive governance conference 2008, Policy Network has held a series of preparatory seminars to develop the different aspects of the conference’s main theme, achieving an inclusive globalisation: promoting prosperity for all.

Poverty and development was the subject of the first preparatory seminar, which took place on 5 March 2008. Paul Collier, professor of economics at the University of Oxford and director of the Centre for the Study of African Economies was joined by Ronald Skeldon, professorial fellow in geography at the University of Sussex to discuss the issue with a number of leading international experts and policymakers in the field.

Seminars have also been held on reform of the global institutions, trade and economic integration: engaging with global and domestic concerns, and climate change: global strategy and domestic concerns. These will contribute towards the development of a series of policy papers which will be the subject of further debate and discussion at the progressive governance conference. The papers and other material arising from the conference will be made available on the Policy Network website.

Places at the preparatory seminars are limited. For more information please contact Jade Groves at jgroves@policy-network.net.
