The European Network of Social Democratic Foundations (ENSoF) organised a conference on the theme, How to revive the European process? Contributions to a constitutional project on 12 April 2007.

Coordinated by the French Jean-Jaures Foundation in cooperation with other thinktanks, the conference aimed to enrich the debate on one of the most urgent questions of the European agenda.

Several social democratic foundations across different EU member states wrote short analyses of the reasons for the rejection, postponement or support of the EU Constitutional Treaty project within their country. Based on these papers, the conference produced a joint document pointing out the conditions under which it could be envisaged that a constitutional project has realistic chances of being adopted.

The results of this high-level roundtable contributed to the deliberations on the constitutional project undertaken during the German EU presidency.
